The tetris challenge has just started

(March 24, 2020)

Background information: The HWTC emergency water treatment unit is used during times of disasters to produce clean and healthy drinking water for the local population. The advantage of our water treatment equipment is that (as opposed to other conventional container solutions) it can be easily transported to disaster areas on pallets, even by air (by a helicopter or an airplane). Road transport of water treatment appliances installed in 20’ and 40’ containers is often a challenging or impossible task in disaster areas.

The present technology allows for automated operating mode and can produce potable water from surface water, groundwater, brackish water or seawater. The system can be powered by its own generator. The latter allows for operation even when there is a temporary blackout due to the damage of the power grid. The capacity depends mainly on the quality of the water that is to be treated. It can produce up to 6 m3/h in case of surface water, 4.5 m3/h in case of brackish water, and 2.5 m3/h in case of sea water.

The complete equipment is installed in 8 smaller containers (sized 1.2 x 0.8 x 1.3 m). In each case, the treated water meets the requirements of the World Health Organization (WHO) and local public health regulations.
